Join us at the Key West Harry S. Truman Foundation to watch the virtual presentation of, “Presidential Pets: Animals in the White House” presented by the Smithsonian Associates.

Independent historian, American University adjunct professor, and former White House correspondent Ken Walsh will take us on a delightful journey through more than two centuries of presidential pet stories. Meet the extraordinary animals that have called the White House home—from Theodore Roosevelt’s lively menagerie of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a badger, and even a small bear, to John F. Kennedy’s beloved pony, Macaroni.

Discover how these furry, feathered, and sometimes surprising companions helped shape public perception, reflected the personalities of America’s presidents, and offered a charming glimpse into life behind the scenes at the White House.

Before the program begins, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments while mingling with fellow members.
